Our campus will soon vote on a referendum that would force Vassar to boycott companies like Ben & Jerry’s and Ahava that do business in Israel, as a way to support the Palestinian cause.
This campaign does nothing to help Palestinians. In fact divestment only serves to further stunt the
Palestinian economy and hurt the very people students claim to support. Will removing Cherry Garcia from campus or changing your bar of soap really put an end to the ongoing division between the Palestinians and Israelis?
The answer is “NO.” And your vote in this referendum should be “NO” as well.
It’s time for Vassar to come together in support of true and lasting peace — rather than standing for divisive policies that only serve to fan the flames of hatred.
Help spread the word that if you truly want to help the Palestinians — the first step is voting “NO” in this referendum.
